Man Indicted For Stealing Thousands In Fuel From Local Company

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested a local man Friday after he was indicted for illegally charging several thousand dollars’ worth of fuel purchases to a local company.

District Attorney Mike Bottoms ordered that an investigation be opened in late January after officials with Doss Brothers Inc., made the discovery.

During the course of the investigation TBI Special Agents determined that the purchase of some 4,772.6 gallons of fuel had been fraudulently charged to the company’s account through Wilson Oil Company.

Officials report that the fraudulent charges were made by former employee Gregory Brant Svetkovich, age 27. TBI officials report that after ending his employment with Doss Brothers in 2012, Svetkovich had kept a company gas key that he used to commit the crimes. The total value of the gasoline stolen was said to be $17,654.13.

Agents arrested Svetkovich on Friday on one count of theft over $10,000. He was released from the Lawrence County Detention Center after posting a $10,000 bond.
